Default Beardie advise needed

Hey guys and girls.

I am new to this forum but i have been having a look around at verious sections and i am after some advice on what people think is the best setup for a beardie (ie what exactly should be in the tank?)

Also does anyone know roughly how much a full setup costs (exlcuding the dragon) and any places to get them from.

I live in Nantwich (south cheshire) and there was a shop in Crewe that sold full setups but it closed down so was unsure where else to get such advise until i came accross this forum.

Any help that can be provided will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You will need:

a 4x2x2 Viv £100-150

A uv starter £?
Substrate (paper towels, play sand, vinyl tiles) £1- £25
Decor/Furnature £0- £?

Roughly estimating.

Dont forget, live food, veg and suppliments.

Hi
to the forum.
Ideally youll need a 4ft viv, maybe a 100w bulb, uvb10.0 tube, don't use sand, use kitchen roll or tiles or lino.
Eating sand causes compaction.
All you really need is a rock for basking a few logs, a large water dish and a food dish.Thats all thats in mine.
Im not sure how much exactly but my 5ft setup cost about 200quid.

Jag.

hi mate

i have just bought a baby beardie last thursday it is in a 3'x1'x2'high viv at the mo till i upgrade, i have a basking light and rock, log, lining paper as substrate uv starter and tube, dimming thermostat and water and veg bowl, also thermometers, all this cost me about 100.00 from on here and ebay, if you have a look in my posts there are piccies of my viv, if you are buyin a baby that is all you need as all they are bothered about at first is eating. when he is older i will put him in a 4'x2'x2' viv with more stuff in

if you need any info on anything ie where i got things from give us a shout

Apart from the basking light, what other heat source ? Or is the basking light the only source of heat? I don't imagine one would properly heat a large viv to the required temperature.

A correctly used 60W bulb will give you a 110f - 85f gradient in a 4' x 2' beardie viv...

So, for future reference, what would I have to do in order to use it correctly?

Set it the appropriate distance from the basking rock to give you a 110f basking temperature, with the stat probe in the cool end set to 85f...

If it's too far away, you won't get the basking temperature; if the stat probe is in the warm end, you can have problems with the cool end getting too hot on warm days, and too cold on colder days.
