Wink Hello!!

Hi, i'm new to the site!!
Just a quick question - we were recently given a 1 year old leo (who wasn't looked after properly) and came to us with sand in his viv! Is it better to put sand in the viv or kitchen towels?

Kitchen towels They can eat the sand which could cause compaction.

Hello!

That's a huge debate with everyone having a different answer. For aesthetic reasons sand is better, as it looks more natural. But for just about every other reason Kitchen towels are better, aswell as safer. It's a matter of personal choice aslong as you understand the risks of impaction if using sand.

Personally I use sand and have never had a problem but I know many people who only use kitchen towels. There are alternatives like Repti-Carpet and Lino. Some people even use tiles.

It's personal judgement really. I don't use sand with very young animals. I'll only generally use it with adults and I don't have any problems.
