Norm for Gecko's eating?!
Hi, our little leo only seems to eat every few days and is really picky - seems to just like about 3-4 locusts!! have tried him on crickets but after chasing them once he just gives up on them. He doesn't really seem to show much interest for the mealworms either! Is this normal, cos the bloke in the pet shop said they should be eating every other day about 4-5 crickets?!

What size are the locusts?
I have the same problem with a picky leo so i'm buying some locusts today to see if she likes those!

They are large ones - he seems to like them! we also bought some giant mealworms to try but he's not interested in them either and he wont hand feed!!

Well, they might be a bit bigger than what the pet store fed it?
Apparantly the live food shouldn't be bigger than the space between the leos eyes. You should use small mealworms if you're using them from what i've been told. As i say don't forget a large locust could equal three smaller crickets.

Ok, well we tried the smaller ones as well but he wasn't bothered about them!!lol maybe we just have a fussy leo - the trouble is we bought him cos he wasn't being looked after properly and is about a year old!His tail was quite thin when we first got him (fat now) so don't know what he ate before!!

just locusts is fine - i have one adult that came to us only eating waxies and occasional locust, and he's in excellent health and 8yrs old! just make sure you put vits on live food/in water..

we use a calcium dust, should we be using something else as well? sorry for asking loads of silly questions!!
