Shed approx every 4-6 weeks in the first year, then this slows down as size increases.
They don't need to 'hibernate', it's actually brumate with snakes, although some advise on it if wanting to breed, but best not to in the first year anyway. In all honesty, but Kathy Love's corn snake book, it will give you all the information you need.

The more Snakes grow the more they shed, they shed more often as babies because they are growing quicker.
As for hibernating, they do not... although when they get mature enough they may go off their food because they want a Female if you catch my drift... My corn has only just started eating after 4 months of waiting for a little girl!
