Default New, with some questions :)

Hello, im new to this forum and have some questions.
I have a 22"x13 1/2" tank, i know its an unusual size. But im looking for a vivarium lid for it. It was originaly a fish tank but the owners of it bought a heat mat for it and kept a snake in, until it ran away. So i am looking for a lid for it, because its not that great condition. If i cant find one, would someone be able to teach me how to make one? if possible

And would also like some recommendations on what to get to go in it. I would love either a snake or a lizard, i know if i get a snake it will outgrow the tank and i will eventualy need a new one. But i would be able to do that.I am new to this so a beginners pet would be preffered (: You can recommend anything other than a snake or lizard, though snakes realy have caught my eye at the mo!

Thanks

corns, such easy beginner snakes, although we started with a tri colored hoggie, recommended by our local reptile shop as a great beginner

Did they also tell you that its rear fanged and venomous?

A small snake to go in there, id say a Sand Boa.

Thanks for the quick replys, i will have a look at the sand boas, but im sure a shop owner told me they were hard to handle. Still no luck with the lids, with the tank being such an unusual size :p
