please help
i have a male yellow bellied turtle about a year old in a 5ft by 3ft tank and have just rescused two turtles slightly smaller they look like a male and a female but they are in a tiny tank (hench me rescuing then) i was wondering the best way to introduce them to each other... please help thanks chrissy x ![]() |

Well first of all you need to quarantine the new arrivals in case they are carrying anything infectious, I'd keep them apart for a minimum of a month and observe them closely for any signs of illness, only put them together when you're certain they are OK.
You need to be careful putting two males together, especially with a single female for them to fight over! Although you say that yours is only a year old, it's normally very difficult if not impossible to sex turts with any certainty before they are around 3 years old, if these two new ones are even younger then it'll be even more difficult. What makes you think yours is a male?
