Default heat mat??

Hiya i got a baby beardie a few days ago and was told to get a heat mat on a stat that comes on in the evening when the temps drop after i have turned lighting off, does this sound right??

do i need the heat mat i have heard on this site alot of ppl saying that beardie's dont need heat mats if so will he be ok with the drop in temp at night after i turn the uv and basking light off??

You do need a heat mat for a beardie. In the summer it is advised to switch off the heat mat as our climate is warmer but during winter/ spring a heat mat is essential.
