Default Burmese rats

This gang are nearly seven weeks old now, and absolutely beautiful. Some of them will be at their first show on Saturday, so I'm hoping they do well.

gutted.

The name 'burmese' (in my head) conjured up some kind of giant breed of super rat, kind of labrador sized.

They are cute'n'all but I must admit the picture in my head was far better!!!

Seriously though, lovely little things Me and Sami both miss having random mammals in the house, but space etc, you know the score. We only have our spiny mice and some lab mice now.

We both miss our ratties.

This litter were Burmese and black (I've added a photo of one of the blacks below so you can see just how black they are). I'll probably show the best two or three of the Burmese babies, and maybe one or two of the blacks as well. Lots of people don't like the blacks and think they look "wild" - well, maybe wishy-washy browny-blacks do, but that black gloss coat these little'uns have is something else entirely.

Make sure to add regular seaweed powder to the diet, it helps keep colour dense ... though the tendancy to rust is also genetic.

Do you show your rats? Will you be at the Preston show next weekend?
