That'll be the reason why the mother was attacking it. Animals don't often allow any disabled young to live because it will not survive in the wild, so they attack, kill or eat anything that has something wrong with it. Sadly, it's nature's way!

Unfortunately I've never seen this before, because I've never bred guinea pigs, but I hope that someone will come on here who has and can give you some good advice.

I can't see too much detail - I can see toes on some of the legs, but not on others - do all the legs have feet and toes. It could be something as simply as the legs lying backwards in the womb and growing in that position, so the placing has been 'set', but as the bones are still fairly soft, this can be rectified if it is the problem.

If this was a kitten born to one of my cats what I would do is regular physio on the legs. Gently stroke and warm the leg through, then move it encouraging it forward into what is its natural position and go through the motions of the leg walking - do 1 leg at a time. It's very time consuming, but if you've got the time, it could help.

Good luck with it!

Take it to the vets.
If they can do something about it they will.

we have one of these born nearly every litter of piggies we have its allways called Froggle and only once has survived all u can do is keep it feeding and see if it picks up but chances are if its not moving its legs at all even if it makes it it will never be able to move and may be fairer to pts unfortunatly but feed it up and hope it starts moving our last Froggle was moving and walking but still didnt make it unfortunatly

Like I said, if it was a kitten, I'd physio it every few hours. I've seen kittens born with what we call 'frogs legs' (none of mine fortunately), but the general theory is that this is the way the kitten has been lying in the womb and the legs have grown that way because for some reason the kitten hasn't been able to move them.

I've seen the same kittens make full recovery after the breeder has tried this physio and manipulation. The way that I see it, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain if you give it a try!

to be honest most vets arnt that good when it comes to guinea pigs, and only a few will admit it.

I breed and rescue guineas, and in this case it looks like this little one is the runt of the litter.
I would use some rolled up towels or flanels, to try and "wedge" up the baby in the right way(as well as moving its legs in the right way, and do physio likes been sugested), but as this one looks all fluffy then its a case of only time will tell and it genrally isnt the happy outcome we hope for.
It is really best if you can to put it back with mum, then if it gets a chance to feed, it will help as mums milk is best, and you can still supliment its feed every hour or so.

What are you feeding it on?
What I use is lactol milk for puppies and dogs, make it up 1 part milk to 5 parts water, let it cool and soak it in some bred and offer the soaked bred to the baby so he/she can suck on the bred, then you arnt risking milk going into their lungs.
good luck with the little one.
