ferret babies.. awwwwwwww... and awww some more!
well, dougal is a daddy now, and penny a proud mum!
hopefully kylie, you will see these before the weekend gets too busy for you too look! penny "sends" her best wishes for a fantastic day anyway! and here.. we have.. little squirmy squeaky things! yes, i am, being careful not to disturb nest and mum too much, hence pics are not all in focus.. i was not actually looking through the camera when taking them, but snapping "blind" so to speak! how many.. err... not sure yet... between 7 and 9 i think? maybe??
at the moment i am not taking them out to count, as this is her first litter, so don't want to push her too much. she is being very good at the moment, i wait for her to come out the door on her own, then place her into a tub on the other side of the room whilst i clean up the poo and stick new food in.. then i have a quick check in the nest, trying not to pull the bedding about too much and get too much of my smell on it all. before i disturb the bedding i make sure i rub my hands all over mum, and before i put mum back in, i again rub my hands all over her, especially round the head, neck and belly, so that hopefully any of my scent in the nest is also on her, so in essence we all smell similar. maybe i am being too precautious, and she would be fine anyway, but, you know how it is !! i am looking forward to seeing them this weekend and seeing how much they have grown! (am in dorset, not lincs (where all my mammals are), at the mo..) N

we got a couple of kits last year and had the joy of handling them from only days old....
dont worry we didnt go into the nest mummy was quite happy to bring them out and plonk them in our laps. good luck for when they get older, your gonna need it
