I would let her get this litter up and weaned and then get her in as quickly as you can after that, say from when the kittens are 6 weeks onwards - by that time the uterus and mammary glands will be back to normal size, making the operation easier and safer.

Be careful though because she can come back into season when the kittens are as young as 3 weeks, so she'll need to be watched.

Let's know when the kittens are born and how many you get!

Too true they can, like I said as early as 3 weeks after the kittens are born, so you'll have to be vigilant otherwise she could come back pregnant again while she's still nursing these ones!!

Some cats are very protective of their kittens, none of mine ever were - everyone was invited when the kittens were being born as most of my girls liked to have another cat in the box with them when they started!!

Looking forward to seeing some piccies!

I'd just give your vet a ring and they'll be able to advise. Well done for getting her spayed after this litter.

My old girl got pregnant as i wasn't careful enough and had a second litter before i had chance to get her spayed from the first it was that quick!! so make sure you keep an eye on her. I would have hated for mine to just have kept breeding and breeding bless her, she wasnt an indoorsy cat at all, and so had to be done, as soon as i could after her babies. She could then roam as she wanted with no worries.

You can get her done as soon as her milk dries up, which obviously depends on how quickly the kittens wean.

I don't know if it's the same with cats. . .
But with other animals. . . they have like a window period just after they have had their offspring where they come into season. . . So if it is the same, then they can get pregent more aless straight away! I would just keep her in till she has given birth!

Sorry, am I being stupid here, but I don't understand that post!

We've already told her the queen can come into season a few weeks after she has given birth, so keeping her in until she has given birth won't prevent that!

LOL!
I wrote it wrong!
I ment to say. . . Until she has raised the kittens!
I was simply making the point that animals such as rodents have a window period straight after they give birth. . . (only about 12 hours) where they are ready to mate again! Look it up! I saw it on a nature programme! lol

It's 3 days I believe! Called rebound season - all to do with hormones! Keep her in from birth until actually spayed.
