This was on the Pets and Animals board on IMDb:
How would one go about procuring a pet Giraffe? by CagedClock 20 hours ago (Fri Apr 18 2008 16:18:00) Ignore this User | Report Abuse First off, this is not a joke, I am very serious about this. I have decided that I want to have a giraffe as a pet. Is there any way to make this happen? I have a reasonably large backyard, would I have to like build it a house back there, I assume it would have to be a pretty tall house for it to comfortably move it's long neck around in. Also, I live in Ohio, would the winters be a problem for a giraffe, I know that typically they are grassland creatures that enjoy the warmth. If I heated the giraffe's house would it be okay? Is it legal to own a giraffe? If so, would I need a permit to own such a large animal? Are giraffe's good with children, because I know animals such as llamas and ostrich's are known for being aggressive towards children, but for the most part giraffe's seem like quite docile animals. Lastly, how much would a giraffe cost me? I'd want a baby giraffe so that I could watch it grow, how much would that run me? Is there a website that offers giraffe adoption or would I have to pay a safari game warden to capture the giraffe? Also, he wrote: I'm sure there are breeds of giraffes that are smaller than others, I'd be willing to have a smaller sized giraffe provided I felt it's neck was long enough for my liking. As I said I have a spacious backyard, and there are no fences surrounding my yard so the giraffe could roam around the neighborhood all it wanted, because considering how large they are it's hard for a giraffe to run away, and everyone would know that it was my giraffe, because I'm unaware of anyone else in my neighborhood who owns a giraffe. And considering it's a giraffe it could cross the street with no fear of being hit by a car, because they'd see the giraffe's neck from a distance and know to slow down to allow the animals passing. But since procuring a giraffe would be quite costly, I would have to hire some sort of trainer to teach my giraffe to come back home after roaming because I wouldn't want it away at night. I'd also want to train the giraffe to stick it's head through my bedroom window to wake me up every morning by licking my face. Now, this link you provided me says that procuring a giraffe and keeping it as a companion is illegal. But where specifically is the law that states that you can't have a giraffe as a pet? Do they single out giraffes as unsuitable candidates for domestication, because as I said I'd keep it outside, so technically it wouldn't be domesticated. But no one ever answered my question, are giraffes good with children? How can we get through to this idiot????

I'm really really scared of them, they freak me out.
I've watched the Lion King at the Theatre 3 times now and cry everytime the fake giraffes are brought out.. really horrible.
