Question female hairless Rat???

Hi everyone, can someone help me out with this please, i have a 9week old female hairless rat. When i bought her she was with another female, but not hairless, but when i picked her up the other rat was sold as was going to buy both of them together.. But the point im getting at is this> Can i buy another rat of her age and put them in together as she has been on her own for just over a week now and she looks a little lonely in the tank by herself and i wanted another rat to go with her, but if she can does it have to be a hairless rat? as of the different smells..
Im not stupid about rats as had about 5-6now but i have never had two in one tank if you know what i mean cheers Sarah xx

Hi,

I kept hairless and normal rats for years. Feel free to get your self another young lady, just introduce them slowly but all should be fine.

Any question just ask.

Rats are usually really easy to introduce... And if she's young, she'll be that much easier. But you can get any variety of fancy rat to go with her, as they are all the same species... Just have different fur/ears/color

I would say get a furred rat so it can keep her warm in the cold nights.

At her age she will get along fine with another young/younger rat kitten so there should be no problems.

I had one 'fully furred' adult rat and bought 3 new ones recently that were much younger...2 hairless and one haired.

Introduced them slowly over the space of a few days and now all 4 of them are in the big adults cage and get one fine.

all my rats are introduced in a bath which is neutral ground then if theres no fighting just general sniffing about i then put them into a large carrier while i clean out the cage for them all the OH is watching them at the same time so if theres any problems then he can seperate them but after that i then put them all in the same cage and leave them to it. done this with all my rats over the years, and even with my hairless girls it was no trouble mixing them together

You could try any female rat with her it would be easier with another youngster though. From other peoples experiences I've heard but I've never had any problems with intro's at all.

I must be the only one who just puts them together???

I introduce females to older females and also to youngsters without issue.
I do the same with the boys. I introduce the 'alfa' boy first then just put them in together.

The other day I put a new doe in with my does and then a couple of hours later I put all the doe kittens in as well.
I did the same with the boy aviary.
All that happened was a bit of gentle 'pinning' to wash ears etc and that was that.
