yeh, multimates are a small form of rat and often wrongly reffered to as mice.
They grow a little bigger than an adult mouse and are often bite if you give them the chance.
They are good for producing high nunbers of young.
You keep them just like rats.

I've never seen them In a pet shop though.

I've sold a few as pets as mine seem to be quite friendly. The ones I've bred not the ones I've bought in.
I always warn people to keep handling them though as they will quickly revert to biting if not handled regularly.

I don't think they are like either a mouse or a rat.
I find they like to have a lot more fresh veg and friut etc.

They often appear in classified at around £5 or £6 each.

Not really as easy as a rat - they will chew out of plastic cages if you're not careful. I have a METAL water bottle holder they've been taking nibbles out of, and my lot need glass water bottles to keep them from busting those.

They also bite like chainsaws if you get a less than friendly one (or don't pay attention to what your fingers smell like).

£20 for a really really friendly pet one might not be too expensive, but it's VERY pricey if they're not very tame.

I breed multimammates and sell them in my pet shop. I find them a very nice pet. They don't tend to smell like normal mice and, I find that they are really friendly. I can go weeks without handling my breeding stock and they are still tame.
They will sit in your hands and not offer to bite! I sell my babies ate £8.50 in the pet shop and usually a little cheaper online.

They are really cool to keep. Mine never bit me and when we sold them in my dads shop we sold them for £5.50. I wouldnt personally pay £20 for them as i think its a bit expensive!
