Default Have you seen this befor ?

ok have to nearly 7 month old pups...

wednesday they chewed a toilet roll while i was at work that night they were fine did spot a lil bit of blood outside checked them over and they were fine !!! that night i got woken up by the oh asking who was being sick ? i managed to wake up it was daisy !! i sorted her out and we all went back to sleep ! the folllowing morning they were both a little quiet! didnt really eat breakfast but that is not unusual as they are not food orientated !! about lunch time daisy was being sick again this time it was foamy with blood in it !! i phoned the vets straight away they said try and bring her down i could only get there at 5.50 so we waited with her being sick at this time she was fine and even played with her sis between being sick !!

got her to vet they thought it was an impaction great i thought great its only going to be a anti sickness and antibiotic injection and of course the enima !!! great she even went toilet outside the vets !!

then.....

i got home opened back door for a fag and Tess then starts throwing up pure blood !!!!

typical i thought !!

2 more vet visits later they are fine !!!no more sickness !!

was just wondering if any one has any ideas as obviously its not normal !! vets have put it down as a "bug"

sorry for long post ....

Tiff x

Did you take a sample of the blood to a vet? Something is seriously wrong here. I would be back at the vet with a sample ASAP and push them for a better diagnosis. I have never seen anything like this in all my 35 years keeping lots of dogs.Is there a different vet you could go to?
An impactation needs more than an enema. I would be expecting an xray at least.

yeah took a sample they didnt do anything with it the next step was bloods and x rays i think they would of done it if they were not so ok within themselfs !! i would be the first to push for this its so strange because i would of thought after that they would be lathargic or acting ill !! there is still 2 days on antibiotics left will take them for a check up when they finished to check there temps as they were high befor

the vets is the best around here !! I phoned the one right round the corner as i could not get to my usual vets and explained my dog was throwing up and they refused to see her !!!!

That bit in the photo really looks like stomach liniing or gut lining. Do they suspect colitis or something? Has there been any improvement with the antibiotics? If after 2 or 3 days of them there is no improvement, I wouldn't be waiting.
If any of my horrible beasts (only joking) threw up anything like that I would have even more grey hairs than I have now and a few more wrinkles too. Any more wrinkles and I'll start to look like I'm related to my tortoise <eek>.

Hmm i've never seen anything like that o.O when you go back to the vets to make sure everything is ok, ask to see if they could possibly have an x-ray and if they say there is no point, just stand your ground and tell them there is a point because its not normal at all.

Though its good to hear they are getting better, hope they make a full recovery and it never happens again

An xray wont always show anything useful in vomiting cases unless there is a chance of an intestinal blockage. Are they now passing faeces ok?
It is possible that she has vomited the blood due to vomiting so much and damaging the oesophagus/ stomach lining or severe inflammation. For a diagnositic xray the dogs would need to be at least sedated if not anaesthetised, which for is an unecessary risk if the animal is improving with treatment.

fair point ! they are not really eating but what i have seen is fine !! (feaces wise)

the one that was throwing up the blood in the pic had not been sick b4 that so it was not a case of her damiging her stomach lining !! Tess the one that waited for me to get home b4 being sick was and follows me around i checked the garden and there was no vomit apart from wht i saw her do !! it really weird i think that daisy the one tht was sick during the day had a bit of blood from vomiting throughout the day !!!

would u suggest anything else apart from x rays as they appear to be ok now apart from there appetite amd slightly pale gums ??
