Hi there, i am a fosterer for the charity Animal Accident Rescue Unit, and we have cats (including one that i have at the moment, George) that are desperately in need of loving homes. Please follow the link to see cats and dogs that need homes, or to give a donation.

Poor animals

If people didn't think they had the god given right to breed animals just because they owned them there would be half as many in rescues.

I have six dogs, 5 bitches and 1 male and I have never bred a litter, planned or by accident. I think there are too many people out there just let dogs get pregnant. Breeding should only be done if it is going to better a breed.

When most of my lot have died I won't be buying anymore, I shall either foster or rehome them from a rescue.

i know what you mean about re-homing over buying a puppy. i have quite a few re-homes here. all but one of my parrots, my dog and my cat are re-homed/rescued. and i used to take in quite a lot of rabbits. but we are thinking of getting another dog in the near future & becuase of the animals we already have and the children, we think a pup would be better for uis than an older dog.

I think alot of rescues try to see what the dogs they have in are like with kids these days... They don't want to get sued! I think if the child has been brought to respect animals then the chance of anything happening is small. I can't get over the way people allow their kids to maul animals (any animals) these days. My daughters were never allowed to and we have never had any problems. I grew up with 2 rescued German Shepherds, the one was given to us as they said she bit a paper boy. I was 2 years old at the time, and she was angelic with me.... And everyone else come to think of it!

i totally agree that children should be properly taught how to respect animals. i have 2 small sisters who are surrounded by animals and know how to respect them!

nobody got a home for these lovely animals?

rescue animals do make good pets. my cat was a rescue, he was 7-8 months old when we got him and my yorkie was a stray. i consider myself lucky that my yorkie is so good with the children. i had no idea what he'd be like when i brought him him home but he's been with us for 2 years now & we've never had a problem.
