There's a book called "The Complete Herbal book for the Dog" written over 30 years ago by a lady called Juliette de Baracli Levy which tells you how to feed a dog a herbal vegetarian diet.

I sold an Afghan Hound pup to a young guy about 32 years ago who was a vegetarian and wanted his dog to be veggie too. I recommended this book, because she actually bred Afghan Hounds and fed them all on a totally vegetarian diet.

About 3 years later some people knocked on my door to say that they got the dog from this guy (his job moved him to London and he couldn't take a dog to his accommodation) and my name was on the pedigree as the breeder. They wanted my opinion because they were worried because of the odd things that were on the diet sheet he'd given them.

For instance, the dog was given oranges to eat instead of bones!! Very interesting, but I have to say the dog looked in the peak of health!

never feed grapes as they contain a toxin that is harmfull to dogs, mine eat apple, pear, mango, all types of veg are ok.

Thanks for that, it's not for a vegetarian diet but BARF, so I know what veg/fruit I can include.

So far I read to avoid, grapes, sultanas etc raw potato and onions.

To include, apple, pear, carrot, spinach, brocoli, red peppers, grapefruit, oranges, garlic, celery.

It's just so I know, out of what veg I buy already for the family is ok for the dog.

He's loving this diet, but I like to include variety rather than the same ol' veggies all the time.

Cheers Emma, it's just knowing what else to mush up, glad you said that about the cucumber though, he swiped about a third of one the other day.

He will eat the food with a garlic clove mixed in, smelt quite nice
