Lice tend to lay eggs on the base of the fur, so if you pulled out some hairs, you'd see the eggs attached to the fur itself. Could it be that?

hair loss can just be due to the change in life style as for the black dots do they look like blackheads? if so could be due to the weather on of my boys goes scabby in summer but in the winter he looks beautiful is it red or sore? does he seem to be itching it?

if its only on his tail its not likely to be adrenal, but yes adrenal is life threatening, we have two fuzzies atm with it, one is almost completely bald apart from his head and feet the other goes the same way but then her fur grows back in for a while.
chances are its just rat tail. it usually is followed by black heads on the tail. try using a baby shampoo just on his tail it usually gets rid of the black heads and the massaging of shampooing it helps with the fur growth (at least thats how it seems when we have rat tailed ferrets)

harley went ot the vets 2day,
vets said

hairloss on his tail is due to the time of the year.
and the 'thingys in his fur' is flea dirt.
so there for, he has fleas.

vet said that i might not see them on his fur but they could be in his cage and just go on him when hes lazying about, and leave there dirt.
so the cage has had a good old clean in boiling water, and harley has not been treated
