Default I'm sure my pet crab shed!?

i have 2 red crabs and i thought one had died last night, it was quite late, so i thought i would throw it away the nxt day. when i got up this morning the 'dead crab' was white! they normally stay the sme colour wen they die. i took a closer looking and it had shed! coz i found the real crab in the water! is this normal?! it was really wierd!
