If you lived a bit nearer, I'd have done it! I've done this a few times for a friend in Edinburgh who had 2 GSDs, a Scotch Terrier, a Maltese Terrier, about 25 cats (on one occasions 4 litters of kittens), 26 chickens and a pondful of fish. I loved it!
Sadly Cardiff is just a bit far away! It is the best solution, because I wouldn't have left my GSD in kennels - we take our cats on holiday with us because we don't want to put them in a cattery, but pay the price by staying in this country - not a great price actually!!! There are quite a few organisations out there who have house and pet sitters on their lists which will presumably have been checked out by the company. I hope you can find something!
