Default My Freecycle Welsh Springer 'Ruby'

Well on Thursday a post came up on freecycle for a springer needing a new home. God knows why but I replied. I got an email back within mins with the ladies phone number. I gave her a ring, we had a good chat about her and being 20 mins walk away I decided to go and see her.
Well I am glad I did cause she is wonderful. She is so gentle with the children and has a fantastic sense of smell which will be tuned to some search and rescue type training.
She is 2 yrs old and the lady I got her from got her from a breeder. She had just come off a litter of 11 puppies. Her nipples haven't even gone back yet. The lady had only had her 5 weeks may be less. She couldn't remember the breeders number or if she still had it. or where she was altho I'm sure she said swindon or swinton?

I was chatting to the lady who runs the petstall on the market and told her about Ruby as she has an English Springer. She said how odd, one of her customers has not long since bought a welsh springer pup and that it was from a litter of 11 and that they were selling mum. she's hoping to get the details of the breeder next time they come. Fingers crossed cause it's not like Welsh Springers are that common.
But she is one stunning dog.

She settled in so well. The kids adore her and she gets on fantastic with the 4 other house dogs. I can honestly say that I'm very happy with her. She has the makings of a very good all rounders, flushing game, pointing, retrieve, search and Rescue. But hopefully we will have years together for her to blossom. I don't normally reply to free to good home dogs what with me having 10 already, but something this time made me email.
xx

Glad she's got a good home with you,

My OH has an English Springer and a Cocker spaniel. See the springer for running, Jeezo. I've never seen a dog run that far. She gets so much adrenaline going through her body she doesn't feel a thing.

Is yours the same? She's a bit older so she may have calmed down. Nice dog though.

Shes gorgeous and looks really at home with you already. It still amazes me how often pets are passed on after only a short time .Im sure she will love the life you have planned for her.Not many dogs get to do the job they where bred for.I have a cross Springer/Border Collie ever so sweet but also very hyper. Shes not sure if she should be herding or retrieving.

Well, She's just been up to the field to meet the pony and again she was a star. Can't fault her at all. She had a great run round off lead and her recall for me is spot on considering I only got her on Thursday.
I don't know wether I replied to the email out of fear that a good springer could be ruined by some muppet wanting a freebie. However I'm glad I did cause she is gonna make a great working dog and we've already been having fun training.
