Cheers mate
I've actually been looking into the possibility of rescue/rehoming one.
Puppys are cute and stuff but, by no means a must for me to take a dog home

if there was a rescue puppy, that's cool... I kinda like the plan of giving a slightly grown up dog a second shot at being happy though.
We'll see what happens I guess.

You might find this a useful site
The Great Dane Owners Forum

Also there is a link to a rescue section

One thing to remember is that the insurance is higher on Danes due to things like Bloat & their size, plus knowing a vet who is used to Danes is VERY useful - I had to change my vet through lack of trust in the 1st vets! They said his ankels were swollen & probably broken, cost me a fortune only to be told what I already knew - NOWT wrong with them coz they have fat ankles

That is when they was pups I assume? That or they get a shed load of beauty-sleep

Lovely looking dogs.

I've been reading loooooooads about them, but direct from you people who own them... what are they like in comparison really, to a "normal dog", in terms of exersize and feeding and such and just general keeping ??

thanks yes they are pups, Danes are quite demanding can't really be left all day as pups, but don't need much exercise. The danger is bloat we have lost one and nearly another they are 44 more times likely to get it then a mongrel, they must have rest before and after food and no water in this time.
