Bloody hell those poor dogs. Also saw that four fogs in scotland have also died from being left in cars.

I can't bear to think how distressing it would have been for those poor dogs.

But.... I thought their vans were kitted out with aircon? Maybe they were left in there and it failed, meaning it was a terrible accident.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere in the car if I couldn't have him with me where we went and I think its appauling that this has been allowed to happen to 2 animals, I'm just maybe thinking it was a terrible accident rather than neglect?

RIP poor dogs

I was wondering that, also the fact that they've not tried to hide it happened. Still an awful loss though.

thats just rediculus, the police are the ones that help inforce that dogs arent left in a car in these conditions so god only knows why this has happened u'd have to leave a dog in there for over an hour for this to happen thats major neglect

But to have air-con working in a car the engine has to be running. The handlers must have been in the station for a reasonable amount of time for this to have happened, so they wouldn't have left their engines running for that length of time, would they?

I would have thought that if they did, that they ran independantly of the vehicles. I've seen some dog transport trailers with the air con units, and they run when dictated by the user

Oh well - then that's possible. Never been inside a police dog car - Black Maria once many years ago and a panda car once too, but not a police dog van!

I saw one of their vans through a demonstration they held at an open day where I work.

Doesn't take anything away from the tragedy that happened, they should have been checked more regularly regardless.

From what I can recall, all police vehicles that carry any type of animal, dog or horse, carries it's own self controlling aircon, but in the report it states this was a private vehicle, surely another reason to charge the handler in charge of the dogs with neglect.

RIP little doggies
