Words fail me on that one! I'm totally appalled!

As you rightly say, what a waste of a life - they were police dogs for God's sake, they should have been in the station with their handlers on a day like that!

I hope the handlers are sacked or at the very least demoted from the dog force!

We were at the County Show one year and there's a pedigree dog show there. It was a boiling hot day. It was announced over the loudspeaker a number of times 'could the owner of car ***** please return to the car park, your dogs are in distress'. The final call being that if they didn't return immediately the car windows would be smashed to remove the dogs. I remember saying at the time that I'd have smashed them already, and I wouldn't be returning the dogs to their 'owner' either.

There's just no excuse for it. It's hardly a little known fact that dogs+cars+heat = death is it? I've gone around opening every window I can for the animals before coming to work today, and that's to leave them in the house!

Whoever left them there should be prosecuted, and should lose their job.

I saw this on the BBC news. It is absolutely appalling!
In Glasgow yesterday it was so warm that the stats in the reptile room turned off. The highest being set to 88*f. That's a north facing room - so gets no sun. Supposedly the south was warmer.
Those officers should have known better! I really hope that they are suitably reprimanded but I suspect nothing much will happen and these poor gorgeous dogs have died for nothing.
I'm stunned.

Totally agree with you!

This happens every year at any show, even at dog shows! I just don't know why people seem to have this cavalier attitude that it won't happen to their dogs??

I remember many years ago now we were on holiday in western Scotland and we had a tremendous 6 day run of heatwave with temps in the top 20's/30's. At the time we had our 2 GSDs, one of which was a black longhaired so suffered in the sun and heat, and we never went out at all during the daytime because it was too hot to take them out anywhere with us and we were weren't prepared to take the risk of leaving them in the chalet unsupervised at those temps.
