let it go outside (away from the cat).
it'll most likely die of shock. my cats bring in all sorts of live things we just let them go, they'll have a better chance outside most likely. i tried looking after a few, they all just died. very nervous creatures and once they go through an ordeal like almost being eaten they very rarely survive. take it to the vets of you want, but i wouldn't bother. after the stress of being captured by a predator, shut up in a box and pulled around by the vet i doubt it'll live.

You do have a point but to be honest id rater it died from stress in a warm comfy box than outside in the rain. |

I must admit I have learned not to try and rescue them unless they are in very good shape when I get them from the cats.
I have 8 cats and they bring in alsorts from blue tits to huge rabbits. If they are youngsters I tend to tell the cat to take it outside and put it out of it's agony. One of my cats brings in quite big rabbits. He isn't able to kill them so he drags them into our bedroom and lets them go. We end up chasing the damn things all over the bedroom half the day. He brings them in through the catflap. I'm regretting putting the flap in as all we hear now is 'clank, clank, clank' all day.

i've saved a couple of birds over the past few years.
best thing to do is leave it somewhere dark and warm overnight, and if it's alive in the morning, try giving it some bread crumbs or boiled egg yolk. if anything would work, it'd be that. the vet will probably put it down before you even give it a chance. we saved a blue tit this way. let us know what happens hope this helps ![]() ![]() |
