Well zoo`s generally work on budgets, which may be why they cannot reach breeding goals (if they cant afford to house the new-borns). I can understand private breeders may do better than zoo`s purely because they dont usually have as many animals to look after. a zoo with all their animals pregnant would be extremely stressful for all parties involved. Most Zoo`s also have vets on hand when needed and have the staff available for each group of animals. But please not this person getting the marmoset is not getting it to breed. I`ve had enough of this subject now, if i carry on i`ll just be repeating myself. This is my first day on reptile forums and its a shame its been arguing about what to do and not to do, i thought this was for advice not petty squabbles, saying that i hope we can speak again under friendly conditions,,,,, Cheers

well what an arguement to caus!!!! if my first thread had been read properly i said i was going to LOOK at a baby marmoset today.i did have an enclosure/lighting (as they need uv2 light) just in case i did decide to buy.i do have a lot of pets and they are all cared for properly because i work to a ROUTINE that i NEVER break,my parents run an animal shelter with over 200 animals and with very little volunteer help but with routine they get it all done.i`m not saying i don`t get a hic up now and again but thats usually all it is,a hic up! all my money goes into my pets,i just nearly lost my horse to severe colic with a vet bill to come of around £200 as it was a sunday night and he was on triple time but hey thats what i get for having animals.
i went and LOOKED at the couples set up and they have 5 mamosets which were adoreable, but i decided that i`m going to wait until my youngest child has gone to school and i do not have any cats as i felt my cats could be a real threat to them,i also decided that if/when i get marmosets it would be in a pair as watching them this morning proved they need others the same.
sorry i caused such an atmosphere and yet again i will be reluctant to share my news on here in the future.everyone has opinions and are entitled to them but some ppl go a bit too far!anyway alls well that ends well although i hope those little monkeys for sale do go to someone who will give them the time and dedication they deserve.

Well, what a thread to read...

It started off with some good points and well worded opinions (and, yes, it was clear that that's what they were - you don't have to agree with opinions).

Then it degraded into personal attacks and predudice - how does that help?! OK, people don't agree, but there is no need for that.
Some people need to learn that a well worded, calm and organised response will gain them respect, be read, and maybe agreed with (and even if not, if the points are put across well enough, understood).
A childish shouting match will not win you anything - least of all an argument.

your cool tho and opinions are good and i suppose there will be arguements over most animals and how ppl keep them, so dont worry too much that you escalated it,it was nice to have someone fighting my corner for a change

I wasn't going to post any more on this thread but I'm really glad things seem to have worked themselves out.

I know that I can be a right opinionated little so and so and I let my emotions get the better of me sometimes.

I think that poshweiller has made a really well thought out choice and I'm glad of that. I hope you didn't think that I doubted your love or devotion to your pets.

Habu, I think that I could make even the calmest person mad (I nearly got punched once with my views on animal testing!) and I think that your experiences with other activists might have given you the impression that we are all the same..which is something that I can understand. There are some activists out there who are quite horrible and smug people. I hope in time I can prove that I am not one like that.(I know South Park makes activists out to be right idoits, but I still love that show) I'm glad that you said sorry and I'm sure you feel bad about some of the stuff that you said. I'm also sorry that I went a overboard myself. I hope that we can put all this in the past.

Love and peace everyone
