we had 5 hens and as above if you dont move the run it gets messy & smelly also rats get attracted.we fed ours on layers mash which was better than pellets.and was getting 4 eggs a day until they moulted.we sold them when thought we were moving.and now the younger dogs wouldnt leave them alone so not replaced them.

I used to have about 200+ chickens for meat eggs and showing.....
Im getting some more soon for eggs and meat (I kept my silkies pekins, polands..)

Silkies are a great breed they are only small but great broodys and lay an egg about once every two days. They look great in gardens aswell as the fact they cant fly very high!

This is a great site

I'd be careful. Theres a law about keeping poultry a certain distance from surrounding neighbors.
If your neighbors dont like you either they could get you back with the stink by complaining, and you may be forced to get rid of the chickens.
You'd have to look that one up, but there are some sort of laws and terms or something about poultry keeping.
I heard it from a keeper where i work.
