I have 3 cats aged 10, 8 and 3.

I found that as long as you let the older cat establish the pecking order everything was fine.
It seems a bit mean but you should allow skittle to put a new kitten in its place, it can involve lots of hissing and the new kitten getting a bit roughed up.
Let the older cat show the newbie who is boss without interferance from you and they settle down very quickly.

exactly right!! you may not find a right match for your cat and they will just fight all day long. im lucky because i found a good match for ziggy when i got her.

i have two girlies and a bloke, got the two girlies first, then added the little man just after they got the snip. they hated him, beat him up all the time until one day he was bigger than them. all the time now he is chansing them giving them a hiding, im always breaking up little squabbles. but deep down they love eachother. they're always snuggling in their cat bed on a morning so i know its all good
