I see no reason he shouldn't be able to be released. since they don't need hand feeding it is pretty easy to keep contact down so they stay pretty wild. not sure what EMP is, but a pure insect diet will be insanely expensive, as they eat a hell of a lot. this chick we have at the moment will eat about 8 chicks or 2 tins of cat food (forgot to mention that before, washed cat food is also a good staple) each day, and he is still only half grown, that will increase daily. I don't know what that works out as in mealworms and crickets but it is not going to be cheap. without seeing the cat run I couldn't say for definet if it would be any good, but I don't see why it shouldn't be.
