Default Found dead ferret today.

i found a dead freeret today on the side of the road, are there many of these let go in the wild, or would this be someones pet??

some will release them into the wild rather than rehome them or it could of escaped from someones back garden.

do we not have ferrety things living wild in this country, polecats and weasels and such?? excuse my poor knowledge of British fauna

ya we have polecats but there up in scotland and a weasel wouldnt come near the road and their not as big as a ferret,did it have a collar
/harness? what colour was it ?

There are also polecat ferrets, mink, both stoats and weasels do go near roads and can also become road victims. Polecats have a patchy but expanding distribution in England and Wales. Pine martins are mainly confined to Scotland, but they too can be found in parts of Wales and England.

it was completly white with black eyes, no harnes or collar etc, i got OH's mum to have a look as she knows nearly everythign about everythign... hehe, and she says it is definatly not a stoat etc, but a ferret...

Definately sounds like a ferret then. Could be an escaped pet but could also just have been turned loose unfortunately. I think the best thing you can do is ring the local vets and animal shelters and let them know because they will be the first place a pet owner would call.
