Default My cats are having a second child(kitten)hood...

Two of my cats are acting like kittens today. Both are around 12 years old. First of all Dixie* starts running around and sticking his front paws out to slide on the laminated floor like some kind of ice skating cat. Seeing a massive ball of ginger and white fur scooting across the floor very un-gracefully with its butt in the air is a unique experience. Then he cheerfully walks up to Sunday, our female, and randomly smacks her in the face. Our cats never fight so this was a bit of a shocker, and he got a good 15 minute lecture about bullying and not hitting girls a quarter of his size. He responded by yawning, turning his back to me and going to sleep.

Then Sunday seemed to catch the kitten bug and attacked a cob nut that rolled onto the floor. She looked like a footballer, whacking it with her paw then darting after it. When it rolled under a chair she started looking wildly up all around the ceiling (?) to see where it had gone. Dixie then comes in, tries to hit her again and chases her, so I distracted him with a nut and he does the same Tierry Henri impression.

Thank god Ted's normal. He's curled up on my lap purring softly and seems to be watching me type this with vague interest.

*Disclaimer: we didn't name any of them, they were rescues that came with embarassing names and mental behaviour.

Just because pics are nice...

Haha that pic is a few years old. Our crimbo tree goes up a few weeks before Christmas! Enough time for the cats to try and climb it... I think they have aspirations to be the fairy but don't realise quite how painful that would be.

You're lucky you can have a Christmas tree! We gave up on that one years ago, cos the cats just climbed up it and knocked it over. The way our cats bred, we almost always had a litter of kittens at Christmas and as their mother/grandmother was the worst for climbing the tree ever since she came into the house as a kitten, we gave up! We even tried tying it to the curtain rail with fishing wire, but they swung on it so the ornaments all fell off anyway!
