Default lost my dog today he was 17!

i had to have my standard poodle put to sleep today
i am truely devastated he was 17 years old and we had him from 8 weeks old
it is a realy hard day for us today

+ a expensive wife (boiler)

I was so sorry to read this! 17 years is a great age for a large dog like a standard - you did really well to get him this far, but it's hard to lose them!

I am so sorry to hear that daxy, poodles are great dogs and like said before 17 is a fantastic age.

thanks all we are realy upset
the vet said it is unheard of for a standard to live to 17
we checked his kc papers and he was 17y 4m old

I've never heard of any large dogs getting to that age! You did him proud!

we had a lab live til he was 17 and 2 months,always hard to lose a pet but dogs become one of the family in a deep rooted way
RIP little poodle,you had a long happy life and thats a tribute to good ownership x
