Default whipsnade zoo

Well Saturday my brother went to the zoo with his gf and while he was there 2 chimps got out one was huge and remained in zoo grounds the other was tiny and walked out the gates!!

well i was absolutely astonished when he told me that the zoo keepers shot the chimp on the road dead!!

i mean have they not heard of tranqulisers if i was there i would have at least tried to catch it i would much rather of had a nasty bite from a monkey then see the monkey shot dead.

what are your views i feel terible about this and feel i should be writting to them or something

kylie

Thing is, if they'd tried to dart it and missed, or the dose was wrong and the chimp got away/got annoyed and hurt someone - the whole zoo could be up for closure as a danger to the public...

plus have you never seen the pictures and read the story of that guy who's was attacked by 2 of his chimps.

he gave them to a zoo as he couldnt look after them anymore. when he went to visit them they attacked him and tore his face off, ripped his ass cheek off, he had to have limbs amputated aswell. the pics were very very messy.

they did what was in the publics interest and ya cant blame them for that. still a shame though. RIP little chimp

But that's the danger - it's a wild animal capable of killing a human pretty quickly (yes even a young chimp is a real danger). Even the nicest ones in the world can turn in an instant. It's not worth the risk - the zoo would have been closed before you could blink...

Seriously, a wrong placed dart - especially if it was near people, could have really upset it. They had no choice, darting is definatly not an option if the chimp was anywhere near people.

well what about tempting it back with its favourite treat or something there was no effort put in to attempt to get it back in the zoo the other chimp was ok cos it was inside the zoo they tempted that back to the enclosure this one was only outside the gates they could have at least tried
