Default Orphan multimammates

My multi girl died about 20 minutes after giving birth to 9 babies, not sure why, she had nothing stuck etc.
I was thinking i`d have to kill the babies which would be a shame as i need more adults so was planning to grow them on.
I rolled then in some fancy mouse bedding and put them in their tank, mummy mouse took them all back to her nest and is looking after them along with her own babies (there are a group of females so they all share feeding etc). I was quite surprised, i imagined the fancy group would kill them but 2 days on they`re thriving well.

What are the chances they`ll make it to adulthood? Will fancy mice raise them as they grow? Anybody done this before?

Thanks!

I imagine they'll grow fine.

I've not had that situation before, but I have had mice raised from around five days old by a rat. They grew fine, the doe accepted the babies as her own and loved them as she did her own rat. They played with their rat sibling not seeming to notice she was gigantic compared to them!

They did go back and live with other mice quite happily as well once grown, so it didn't seem to affect their social skills.

Thanks Toyah!
There are 6 adult female mice with small litters to share the workload between the 9 newbies. It will look like the whole cuckoo scenaria with 9 big babies running around

They will be separated as soon as they`re weaned, if they make it to that point.

Bet that must have looked very strange. Also congrats to the OP on saving the litter

Default Spot the odd ones!

Here`s the little multis snuggled up with their foster siblings of varying ages! They`re now 4 days old.
