I didn't vote because I don't thinkt he options are viable for the species you have listed.

there is too much of a difference in needs for me on the species.

As a whole, I would agree that the majority of exotic mammals can be kept in captivity. I don't agree with primates being kept captively UNLESS the keeper can provide every aspect of thier needs both environment, social structure and such.

This, I think, is quite a task and not easily pertained by most so I really can't say yes or no

Im against any animal being kept in captivity morrally, I think they should all be kept in the wild. Just because i can be kept in prison healthy and reasonably happy, not want for anything, im safe, secure and everything is hunky dory from a husbandry point of view but ive had my freedom taken away from me - Is this ok? Anyone seen the german film Das Experiment? It kinda reminds of that

Im not against it enough to not keep animals though

Is it really prison?
If the animal was bred in captivity? If you were bred in a prison would it seem like a "bad" thing to you?
If you were taken today and put in a prison it would be like , Wild Caught/WC animals being taken to Captivity which is bad in my opinion.
My Opinion now:
I thing aslong as the animals was bred in Captivity it is ok. They must have the right amount of space, enclosure space etc.
Must have correct food, diet etc, not chocolate etc.
Keeper must now what they are doing either reaserch (and lots of it) or have experience with the spieces or simular spiecesm before.

Im Ok with any animal being kept in captivity, as long as the carer(s) can look after them and provide them with a healthy life.

2.You think its bad/cruel

I have voted yes.

I think if all the requirements to keep the species are met with satisfaction then of course it is more than okay to keep the animals you have listed.

This is not saying that all animals currently maintained by keepers are kept in satisfactory conditions, but the latter is in reality only about 15%, with a staggering 85% that do keep these species remarkably well if not in much better conditions than many zoos and parks do.

This is not stating that zoos and parks are not able to sustain their collections, far from it - however many people forget that many collections maintained with in the latter in the UK are not as they once were due to budget cuts on departments and strict rulings by administrations. But an independant keeper has an independant income and as such is not restricted by an administrator.

If all conditions for enclosing captive kept species are maintained to the fullest of capabilities then - yes - it is more than OK to keep them in the first place.

Captivity is only a prision if the keepers make it so. Cruelty is only the result of the keepers not maintaining the animals to the best of their ability and meeting all the animals requirements.

It would be morally incorrect if sellers of exotics took no responsibility in the sales of the animals and kept accountable traceability as to where these animals go and continue monitoring their husbandry within the new environment.
