Default ferret question kinda

i have a bag of sawdust which i got off freecycle with a hutch, i intended on using it for dandy (the ferret) when i cleaned him out which is today, but i have just looked into the bag and it is exactly what it says not what i expected.
it is sawdust and not the bigger "flakes" you get in shops.
can i use this or will it just cause respiritory(sp) problems
and if not is it good for anything or just the bin?
please reply as soon as possible please.

You should NOT use saw DUST with any animal whose face is close to the ground, its asking for trouble, in fact you shouldnt really use wood shavings or anything like that with ferrerts or smaller rodents in my opinion.
Is has fumes and chemicals in it.

Sawdust can irritate the lungs and noses of ferrets, they dont need it, the are happy sleeping in blankets/hammocks/snuggletunnels/pouches, with a litter tray in their preferred poop corner.

I use the wood pellets designed for cat litter they break down when overly wet which makes it easier to see when they need cleaning.

I use the wood cat litter pellets with rats too (or used to) and think they're very good. They dont seem to get smelly and its easy to scoop the "powdered" stuff out of the corner when it gets wet.

it's not necessary to use it with ferrets atall though, so I wouldn't bother, like I said they are more than happy with a litter tray and it's alot easier to clean if you can litter train them, which shouldn't be too hard provided you put the tray where they like to do their business.
