That's interesting about Ireland.
A Panther's territory can range up to 200 square miles depending on the density of the cats. I would imagine that given the relatively small numbers of these cats that they would have large territories covering wide areas, which presents researchers with a problem when trying to get the proof. Unfortunately the people like the government who would have the funding to do something like this do not want to, and the people that do probably do not the resources (equipment and willing volunteers).

what cats?...did the islands ever have a species of large cat that went extinct recently? or is it a bigfoot kinda thing? i don't know. i'm not hip to most of britains fauna... or is this just about big ole feral house cats?....excuse my ignorance....you all lost me.

my o/h has seen a big cat down here on 2 different occasions while cycling and running - though he doesn't often mention it.
Both of them were large black cats - bigger than a sheep.
