Default Meerkat pics. Not many will have one as friendly as this!!!

Here's my friends meerkats this evening.
I went over 'cos I wanted people to know 'it can be done'.
Not to be recommended though.

He's a baby.

but he's cute.

He needs some love I'll give him a kiss.

Leave mew alone you're getting big.

It's my Mam but I'll share.

So you see they can, with a lot of care, be pets.

Not recommended for the average owner.

No one said it can't be done!!! I said ours are like that with my o/h but no one else can get near them!! I was making the point that the majority of meerkats aren't cute and cuddly. And to get them to that point takes alot of hard work!!! I'd also like to point out that a naturally dominant meerkat would dominate the dogs too - Mark Amey's meerkat is the sister of our Clyde, and I can't remember for the life of me what her name is, she (at least she did a year or so ago - I've not spoken to him in a while), was highly socialised yet still bossed around his huge dogs!

Cute dog though

Ky is not dominant with the bigger dogs but not as tolerant as he is with the pups. He is also 10yrs old so has had more time than any other meerkat I've heard of to become socialised. He's in with Michelle for over 8yrs now. As I said on the other thread Michelle did say she would never have another when Ky 'goes' though. She says it's been an 'experience' and she loves him to bits but she wouldn't want to go through it again.
As you say it has taken a lot of time and continued effort to keep so well socialised and friendly.
