ok here's a couple of slightly better ones of ghost.. the breeder said blue husky what do you guys think?

also do any of your rats have a certain obsession with an item, they've both got a thing with my old old dressing gown, when they're out free rangin if something spooks them they run into it..till the 'danger' has passed..is this normal?

awwww their sooo cute and young. i dont know if this would be of any help, but seen as hamsters and rats are both rodents it might. with the hole being obsessed thing. mine used to be obsessed with my hair. if it got scared it used to climb up my top into my hair. i think its a safety thing. plus helps with bonding cos it has ur smell on it. and obviously they think of ur scent and safe so thats good.

Ruby looks like a Champagne, either husky or blazed. Fawn isn't a rat variety

If she is a husky, she'll gradually start turning white. If she has a white belly and paws, and doesn't lose her colouring, then she is a blazed berkshire

Not entirely sure about Ghost - definitely husky, but because they get the white ticking I always struggle to determine the exact base colour from photos

The Tom cage has been given very good reviews, I would definitely get it over the Jenny any day! Has far better access due to the large door at the front.

yeah i thought fawn wasn't right as quite simply when i was looking through google i couldn't find anything, will be interesting to see how Ruby grows then.

When they're out free ranging i usually have items out for them to play with one of them was an old dressing gown, simply so they had somewhere to hide n explore (sleeves etc) but it's become like a bloody security blanket lol.

Tried removing it today n ghost ran in between my legs to hide(luckily i had jeans on otherwise that could have been painful!) She's alot more confident than ruby..if ruby hears a noise or gets fed up she'll run into the cage (i leave it open so they have a bolt hole as such..is that a good or bad idea?)

Also, sometimes they love free ranging..othertimes they seem to really hate it..like grumpy old women

I'd say that Ghost looks more likely to be a black husky personally - she looks quite dark for a blue - but then I'm basing that on my "light" blue hooded rat.

And Fawn is a variety in the US at least - but it's very much like the fawn in mice, a rich orange-red with red eyes - and not the pale creamy fawn colour I'd expect from a champagne or mock-champagne.

They change a LOT between birth and their final adult coats. I have one husky girl who's midmoult with a dark black 'cap' and shaded grey-white back/face; she was black and white when she was born.

okay sorry to drag this thread up b t here goes..in the space of a week ruby has drastically lost her sandy colouring along on her back and is turning white apart from her head markings

ghosts going very light grey on her back but her heads staying a darker shade (with lighter grey around her eyes lol), tried to take some back shots to show what i mean.

bottom one although blurry shows the colour difference a little better

was just wondering if this is what ssthisto said when mentioned about a husky girl who is midmoult?

That's exactly what I mean.

Husky rats do not stay dark-coloured - and the champagne-based ones go nearly white when they finish their colour change.
