Default Skinny Pigs !!!!!!!!

Hi there to everyone,,,

Basically I'm looking for some info on Skinny Pigs,

My Girlfriend is a major lover and carer for guinea pigs and recently we have come across the breed of skinny pigs !!!!!!!

From the research we've done and pictures we've seen its a guinea pig with no hair !!!!!!! we don't no much more but totally fallen in love with what we've seen.
We've got the idea that there totally rare and only a few breeders in the uk, can ANYONE help us with what they know!!!!!!

Cheers Ross & Crystal

I used to breed guineas pigs, here all i know on Skinnys,

* They were genetically bred for lab experiments. A few got leaked out and breeders soon began breeding them. They come from america or canada i think.

* They need to be kept in in-door cages and have plenty of hay, because of the lack of furr.

* Can be problem pigs, often having skin problems and many health problems.

* Yes they are rarer in the uk - GOOD LUCK

When I was looking to get one i was told boars go for between £80-£100 Sows £100-£120 or there abouts, the eat more food than normal pigs as there metabolic rate is alot higher to compensate for the lack of hair
