Sorry about that! Might be worth getting some chicken wire and fixing it around the hutch so ieven if it gets through the wood it won't get to the rat

It's horrible when things like this happen, a fox got my friends rabbit and its not a pritty sight !

Sorry to hear this but I am wondering if you had the rat 'hutch' outside in the open???

I've never heard of people keeping rats in hutches or outside unless in a shed.

All mine are in the house in tubs at the moment but I am going to have them outside in the shed come the Spring.

I doubt very much if a cat could manage to kill 8 rats without some of them getting out of the hutch and escaping. Are you sure there are 8 bodies?? It's psooible that there could be 1 or 2 running around outside!!!!!

awww poor curly, sorry to hear this, keep a very close eye on him, and if he shows any signs of discomfort the nicest thing to do may be to put him to sleep. if he has witnessed it he will be very shaken, but if he was involved in it he may be injured

best of luck, hope he is ok
