I agree - if he takes after his dad, he'll be a stunner all right!

Prostate cancer is MORE common in neutered older dogs than testicular cancer is in entire males.
I'd rather have an entire male with testicular cancer (as then he can be neutered as treatment) than a neutered male with prostate cancer, as the treatment to deal with THAT is much more extreme.[/quote] NOT TRUE AT ALL!!! Prostatic diseases are nearly all hormonally driven - ie testosterone driven! The cure for most curable prostatic diseases is castration/anti-testosterone therapies. Prostatic disease is nearly unheard of in neutered males. It is true that prostatic cancer is very hard to treat - extremely aggressive and with early metastasis to bone, poorly responsive to any therapy. In that respect, it would be much better to have a testicular cancer, as they are generally less aggressive and spread much slower, therefore can be easily removed. |

I had my little lad neutered when he started marking his territory on the sofa. He was a rescue mutt so should have been done already but after 6 months they still didn't do him..... probably cos they really wanted him to breed and have more of him running round the country.
I felt that guilty i has having him done i cooked him a full steak dinner the next day, steak, roast potatoes, mash, veg, yorkshire pudding and gravy. Regretted it though when i found roast potatoes in my bed.

Gorgeous puppy and what a sexy daddy he has
![]() I have two staffords a bitch and a dog the bitch was done at 7months as she has 'issues' which meant it was best not for me to breed from her which was the original plan, we never had the dog done as I have had three male dogs whilst growing up and never had those done so it never really crossed my mind. He has never tried to mount our bitch which we thought was great he is 5 this year and only in the last six months has he started to have like one day a month where he won't leave her alone, follows her round trying to lick her and if she stands still long enough tries to get on. Myself and my fella shout at him and he gets off again but at one stage I threatened him if he didn't pack it in I would ring the vet and book him in for the chop. It seems to have calmed down now lots which is super!!! If he started again and kept on then I would have him done but only for his sake and hers. As I said I have had (now) 5 male dogs throughout my life (we still own 3) and I have never had a dog escape to get to a bitch call me over protective but I don't leave doors open and I am paranoid about visitors and doors etc. The way I see it is you can have his nuts 'orf to stop him getting testicular cancer but you can't take out his lungs to stop it happening there, or his liver out to stop him getting liver disease or his eyes out to stop . . . you see my point?? If he is healthy and his nuts aren't causing a problem, why put him through an operation, but I would only say this if you are a sensible owner who shuts the door after yourself and take care not to let your dog roam the street and impregnate any stray bitches ![]()
