Have a chat with your vet and see if you can't get an account with them, this way you can pay off any unforeseen bills over time. We had our vet out for a house call, when we later called at the surgery we found he had opened an account for us...which was nice of him, and extremely handy as well, as we have spent at least £1000 at the vets in the last year.
It's nice having the peace of mind that should anything expensive crop up (touch wood it doesn't) we don't have to worry about finding the money all in one lump sum.

My vet is rude, arrogant, sell unnecessary treatments to inflate the bill BUT he know's his stuff. If you have a pet you have a duty to get it sorted when it's ill.

Sorry if this offends but vets have no obligation to set up accounts or installment plans. You wouldnt go to the supermarket, load up a trolley then ask if you can pay half now and the other half in 2 weeks!!
Its simple really, dont get pets if you cant afford the vets bills!

I think the person who mentioned an account was talking about a 'pre-payment' account so that there was money in the account for anythng that might happen.
My vet does this.
You agree to a weekly/monthly amount that you will pay into your account and then it's there in case of emergency.
It's a way of saving the money and not being able to get to it, like you could if it was in your bank account, therefore it's not like a credit account.
