Have a chat with your vet and see if you can't get an account with them, this way you can pay off any unforeseen bills over time. We had our vet out for a house call, when we later called at the surgery we found he had opened an account for us...which was nice of him, and extremely handy as well, as we have spent at least £1000 at the vets in the last year.
It's nice having the peace of mind that should anything expensive crop up (touch wood it doesn't) we don't have to worry about finding the money all in one lump sum.

My vet does this. You agree to a weekly/monthly amount that you will pay into your account and then it's there in case of emergency. It's a way of saving the money and not being able to get to it, like you could if it was in your bank account, therefore it's not like a credit account.
