Default my GP Rug

my guinea pig had a small patch of hair loss and scabbing so took her to the vets last tuesday and was treated for mites and dermatitis, within 3 days nearly all her hair had gone and huge sores were covering her body

Shes having oral antibiotics twice a day and nearly all her scabs have gone now!!!

I have now learnt to steer clear of cheap Hay, after over £100 of vets fees to treat one guinea pig and one rabbit for mites its turned out to be amazingly expensive hay!

heres a pic of her before her hair loss

We had exactly the same happen to us last year!!!! my poor GP was nearly god damn bald with really sore scabs all over his back and ears, we took him to the vet and they gave him an injection, when we got home he had a bad fit due to the injection dose being wrong
As you can imagine we weren't pleased, after a process of elimination (sp) we found it was the hay we were using, we went to the supplier who THEN decided to tell us some hay he gets in isn't treated so poor Stuarts injuries were all from the mites in this stupid crap hay!!!!!
Once we stopped using it and treated his sores and kept him on ripped up kitchen towel etc for a while he soon got all his lovely rexy fur back, hope your little one gets well soon

yeah, i was told by one the people that worked there that it was sterilised but then i find out it wasnt, they have shredded paper at the moment with sawdust and live indoors, the rabbit has his own blanket!!!

Rugs whole belly scabbed up and shes got a bit of hair left on her back but not much, the scabs are nearly gone but shes still bald, shes in the front room in a converted pet carrier to shes well enough to go back with her friend
