No you don't need a license but some are registered as endangered and all should have some sort of breeders ring on their legs. This is to help you get the bird back if it goes AWOL. How old are you? You need to do a lot of ground work before you get a BOP. Read books, join a Club, try and meet other people who keep them. When you have a good basic knowledge you need to find land and get permission to hunt on that land. When you have surveyed the land you can make a decision as to which bird is best suited to the land and you. Some people manage to fly their birds only on a weekend but you will not get the best out of it. I took my first bird on last August and have spent 2-3 hours per day training and hunting.
