Default Ferret got Nappy Rash!!

Ok so its not exactly as the title says but my little girlie has got a rash in her groin kind of area and a tiny bit on her back.

A while ago she started losing her hair on the base of her tail and back...this was back last year and its never grown back. When i took her to the vets to have her 'bits' done they said it may be because she was over producing some hormone (cant rememeber off the top of my head now, got it written down somewhere).

Anyway, what i want to know is is there a cream people can reccommend to try and use? or is another trip to the vets required??

Ta,
Gary.

Sorry, i should add that the vets said now shes had her operation then her hormones should go back to normal and her hair grow back...as her op was only last month then there aint really been enough time to see if this is true.

I was thinking something like that...is it safe enough then as i didnt want to put some cream on that she decides she likes the taste of but could be harmful if she keeps licking it??

well the boys do lick it a bit but if you rub it in as much as you can its not such a problem i dont think they like the taste though cos they soon stop licking

Hormones can take as much as 6 months to die down so you may not see much difference immediately. Do you bed your ferrets on straw or hay by any chance?
If its not hormones and not due to the bedding (Im thinking straw mites) then it would be worth getting blood tests done.

Nope, they have sawdust (not the fine stuff before people jump on that) in the main part of their hutch and an old hoody jacket that they sleep in.

You got me a little worried with that one post now, although the vet seemed convinced it was down to hormones...oestrogen maybe?

Im reading about that Adrenal Disease now...she doesnt exactly fit these symptoms!!

For a start she has a bushy tail, its only the very base of her tail thats bald. Also, she doesnt scratch a lot, doesnt drink or urinate more than normal and hasnt lost any weight...if anything shes put a bit on.

It does also say that the visual signs are usually obvious for this disease and can often be diagnosed without any tests and the vet i used seem to know their stuff...i made sure they knew what they were on about and came recceomnded for ferrets.
