Default r.i.p lil eggie :(

i know this may sound a little soft or silly postin an R.I.P for an egg but ill explain the story. We had a batch of eggs in a home made inc that was made with water and a fish heater. after a week we decided they were just gettin too wet so got a stat and made a heat mat inc instead. We have lost a few tho and are gunna lose some more, so with a collapsed egg, we got it out the incubator and opened it to check that they were fertile..... they are, there was a big pair of eyes attached to a little transparent body it had legs and a tail and even a jaw growing. we're quite upset about it and feel that we have lost them cos of that damn first incubator that we made from directions out of a lizard book cos we think they just got too wet. Some have grown tho so on the bright side we may save a few, which i suppose is better than nothing but im still a little disheartened by the poor little baby that has died in the shell

so R.I.P lil eggie, we're sorry you didnt get a chance to grow bigger

yeah gutted but i suppose then again it would have been worse if it had died when it was out the shell, this way perhaps it didnt even realise, if that makes sense

no i didnt put them in water, i made an incubator from a book out of a poly fish box with water in the bottom and a fish tank heater submerged in the water. the eggs were in vermiculite in tubs sat on bricks above the water. but there was just too much condensation in there with the water evaporating and it was making the eggs wet even though there was a lid on them. we transferred them after a week when we had another inc sorted and they all looked fine but alas some have collapsed. we still have a few healthy ones, though i really doubt we'll get more than 6 out of the 23 she layed which im gutted about cos it was our gold phase ( who is goin to the vets today as she isnt very well never had a vet trip for a rep yet!) i just hope the rest of the eggs pull through! so fingers crossed guys please! they look like they are growing so lookin hopeful for them ones at least
