poor bugger has done nothing but breed for 8 years. Anyone married for 8 years or more will feel for him.
Oh bless. If I had more room I would have taken him. If he was a she now that wouldn't be a problem as I could have put him with my girls lol.

This is a brilliant cause..!! well done. i also agree that reptile should not just be bought without proper research. they are a specialist pet and more people should realise this.

Unfortunately many shops are to blame as they aren't bothered who they sell to as long as they sell the animal.

Agreed.

I was amazed to find myself in a pet shop a week or so ago that purported to be a reptile specialist. I went with the intention of having a squint at the livestock to see if anything took my fancy, and ask a couple of questions to see how specialist he was.

I decided not to bother when I saw that no tank had either UV or guards on heat sources, no thermometer or thermostat and most had exposed heat mats.

I even saw a tortoise tucking into a meal of iceberg lettuce and cat biscuits!

This shop is well used by the uninitiated and I wonder how many reps end up living in those conditions for the rest of their truncated lives.

Reported to his council and the RSPCA now though.

We'll see what happens.

Just decided I wanted to add a bit to the above................

We are all capable of getting things wrong occassionally, or letting an animal go too easily, to potentially the wrong home, but there is a difference between this and not even trying!!!!!

Corn now gone, but ferrets, degus, beardie, diadem, chipmunk still available.

Can't believe you lot are all scared of a little royal diadem with no sense of humour!!!

Hi Guys,

Quick reminder for you all

We will be displaying some of our animals this weekend at the Pets at Home store in Wakefield.

Over the 2 days, we will be allowing people to get up close and personal with the following;

Our 14' Burmese, Our 5 foot Blackthroat, Our Skunk, Our inverts, Our 10' Carpet python, our 6 month old meerkat, and, last but not least 3 x 4 week old baby meerkats. We will try and have our wallaby there on Sunday, but who knows. He is a little tempermental these days. Iggy may be there, as may one of our Boscs and perhaps a beardie.

These animals will be spread out over the 2 days, so as not to work any too hard. The baby meerkats will be there both days so we can keep them properly fed.

Anyway, we will also have our merchandise available and look forward to seeing anyone who can make it.

Alan

On a more serious note;

We have available the following;

That ever older beardie
A superb little male bosc - 12" long and in really good health
The royal diadem nobody seems to want
2 female degus
A 3 foot Iggy, who is as tame as they come - when he wants to come out.

Hi all,

Firstly we had a fantastic fundraising weekend at Pets At Home, Wakefield this weekend. In 2 days we raised £350 and if anyone from here came, we thank you greatly for ypur support and hope you enjoyed it.
I know what many on here think of P@H being involved in the reptile market, but they are trying to ensure all staff are fully trained and they are sticking to just a limited number of very simple species. We all have to start somewhere.

Secondly, we are rehoming like Joe 90!!!

All we have at the moment is;
A super little baby bosc. 12" of in viv attitude and very healthy sparky little guy.
Our Jurrasic beardie and his new friend, a very healthy lady.
We thought our beardie was old till we took an 18 year old female iggy this weekend. She looks to have had a very poor time of it and needs a very patient, understanding and loving home to retire to. She needs buckets of TLC. She has one third of her tail missing, hardly any spines left on her back, lots of retained shed and looks like the sole survivor of a nuclear blast.
In her viv, she is a monster. Sometimes I have to throw a towel over her just to get her. Once out, she loves a cuddle, but her attitude and general health means she can only go to a very experienced Iggy owner.
We still have 2 delightful little degus.

Usual rehomig rules apply.

Alan
