How many genuine reptile re-homing centres do you know that have been offered regular financial help but don't even try to take it? Every serious rehoming center we have worked with would have jumped at the chance to get regular help, this lady has managed to reply to my comment on here but not email me.
Go figure!!

We have never been offered financial help. of course we accept donations if someone rehomes an animal (standard £35 fee) but other than that we've had no such luck gaining financial aid from anywhere, we're contemplating posting a section on our web site (www.freewebs.com/lutonreptilerescue) to plead that people remember reptile rescues in their last will and testament. of course this only goes for the genuine ones which i believe Molly is having chatted with her recently. People who advertise their rescues on classifieds are a bunch of herpetological david dickinsons (bargain hunters.... geddit?) out for a free pet and i pay them no heed. If people wish to rehome an animal they can find me through their own investigation. i still have my work cut out for me i assure you, so how do these people expect me to believe they can cope when they literally ADVERTISE themselves? i know there are other rescues in the uk who accept 'donations' that are essentially shop prices and use it as a suplement of their own income, again.... not necessarily a bad thing if the money were to go back into buying equipment etc, but alas it does not. In the past fortnight i have had to take in, rehabilitate and rehome over 60 reptiles, thats without advertising, funding or assistance of any kind... i'm just glad i'm signed off work at the minute i can tell ya.

and people STILL accuse me of being after free pets, which is quite funny. i have been after a female hoggy to pair my male up for like 6 or 7 years.... one arrived with us and what did i do? i rehomed it. because i'm not doing this for me, i'm doing it for the animals and to try and reduce the statistics of abandoned reptiles that WILL reflect our hobby in the long run. larger animal welfare organisations are using annual statistics against our hobby, and its people like us that are ACTIVELY doing something about it, so we should receive your praise, not your suspicion.

And you should ask my Partner how many times in the past few months i have said 'sod it, i'm not doing this anymore', based on peoples attitudes towards it. an example of why i thought htis was that after feeding all the animals a gourmet of mice and rats i sat down to a plate of instant mash and gravy. so dont tell me we dont care if we're prepared to sacrifice so much of our personal lives for this hobby.

As someone who knows many people at rescue centres and also has someone who has done loads of work with rescued herps i know how hard these people work.
Now if you worked 12 to 16 hours a day and anywhere in the country then had to drive home would you spend every last sleepy hour caring for, cleaning out and feeding, god knows how many animals.

For gods sake give these peole the respect they deserve, ok there are people out there for the free herps but people know who they are so leave the genuine people to it.

Rant ended sorry gettin ready for a long day at work
please don't take this as everyones opinion, i applaude anyone who wishes to help give homes to reps, i never understand the way people jump on things like this, after all if she is keeping 70 reps or something shes not just init for freebies, think about it for gods sake her food bill alone must be astranomical as well as vets bills as she says she takes reps in ill health etc..this is in no way against Denise at reptilerescueden (she knows i think what she does is great) but no-one jumped on her when she first joined!! why is that is it because she had a proper name for her rescue outfit?? because i don't see any differance both want to help and rescue reps...only thing i am against is the fact of the non re-homing policy, that does seem slighty strange and by having a policy like this it will actually stop you in the end being able to take needy reps in as you will run out of room, if i was going to do something like this (which would be my dream) once reps well and healthy etc it would be important for me to find homes so i have more room to help others....

Well i still stand by my post, it was in no way getting at Molly, I just wanted to know why she did not rehome ? and she cleared that up with me. Anyone who has a genuine love for reptiles and the knowledge to help should be supported, whether they take in 1 or 100 rehomes. Molly is one of these genuine people from what I have heard through the herping grapevine, lets support her, any one of us may need her one day.

I stand by mine too. I wasn't having a go at anyone!
There is no such thing as a free reptile when it comes to rescuing them. As indeed you have the vet bills, food and supplements, electricity bills and so on.
Sure rescue centres get the odd donation but that maybe just covers the food bill for a month say, the rest comes out of our own pockets. Those who do rescue do a damn good job. Just i find that if i didn't re-home animals where I can then that would hinder my work.

I agree that will come a time where Molly, or anyone else for that matter , will have to say 'no more'. other than that, if she can provide all the care they all need, there is no real difference between rehoming somewhere else and rehoming whith herself.

One worry though, what would happen if you fall ill or are otherwise unable to care for them for a short while? Are you like us and have others around.

I have my sister and brother, some of you may know steve,(tarantulabarn). we all have our little areas of interest, but all can step in and help out if needed, along with the hoards, well 4 or 5 local children who cant wait to help and one who now owns a small royal and has joined our society !

Still, having said all that, there is no way we could have kept all our rescues !

Valid point about when illness occurs. If i didn't have my family'support i don't know where i or the animals would be.

Just wanted to clear this up once and for all
I'm not some bad trickster after free pets I've just come home from my job as a VN with a newborn abandoned kitten to feed every few hours so it has a chance to have a full life and just finished my own reptiles I do this out of love for the animals Not anything else.

Thankyou to the people who supported me

My own 70 odd reps are my pets as well not all rescues many have been bought by me as my own pets I've kept reps for over 20 years and I see nothing wrong with what I do.

Nothing to do with mental illness!!!! etc or maybe it is if caring is a crime

If people would rather I am a last hope home I give animals which are very ill a chance.
