Default Reptileader reptile rescue has space

ReptiLeader Reptile Rescue has space for small to medium reptiles at the moment We are a small home based rescue with about 70 reps Over 20 years experience in keeping breeding and rehoming reptiles I'm also a reptile vet nurse which is why i will take in disabled reps and offer a perm loving home. Rehabilatation of disabled reps is our field based in South east london No rescued reptiles will be sold bred from or rehomed again. many thanks paula

I am always bemused by rescues that do not rehome ?
Surely it would make more sense to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome ? thus freeing up more space for rescue cases , if you intend to become a genuine rescue center you will soon become full and then you will no longer be able to help. perhaps calling yourself a sanctuary or retirment home would be more aplicable ?
By the way i am neither picking or having a go, I am just curious as somene who has been involved in rescue for over 20 years .

I am Part of the British Reptile and Amphibian society.

I do rehome some animals but if you read the ad most of the reptiles I rescue are severe cases of neglect and have suffered perm damage most have mobility problems or brain damage kidney damage etc.

if what people imply is I do this to gain free reptiles then that is very sad it cots me over £90 per week to feed them all and its a full time job along with my job as a vet nurse.

As i have worked in reptile meds for many years many people rehome last chance cases with me.

Many thanks paula

I was not implying anything, I am genuinly cureous, and I think it was a valid question, and in your first post you did say you dont rehome.

I think being a member of BRAS is as relevant as me being a member of FBH ?
Anyway as you obviously have taken me the wrong way, i will leave you to it, and wish you genuine good luck with your rescue. Perhaps you would like to join the Irwin reptile network ?

I dont know how you do it, id be in tears half the time, and the other half out for blood.

Im going to make a concious effort to only sell my animals to dedicated, well informed individuals, as i would dread to think that i had ever bred an animal to live a bad life.

Props to ya!

What gets me is if she has all these animals, then why advertise for more?? There are plenty of rescue centers around.

Now i am NOT saying you are one of the following people so don't get defensive, but, how many times have we all seen these people who advertise as "such and such rescue center, we take free herps" only to find out they are just out for free animals.

Personally if i were you i'd atleast bother to get myself an email address that shows you are serious. How about applying for charity status? There are plenty of ways to get respect as a rescue center which will inevitably gain you cheaper prices, if not freebies to help along the way.

I just wanted to clear up no offernce taken BRAS are a rescue network who also run the shows the last one was the show on the 8th July at Barking I am part of the comittee we work hard to educate and rehome reptile.

Sadly as I said before most of mine are very sick or disabled and not many people want to own a leo which cant see so needs to be hand feed for life or a snake which looks so ugly as its been kicked in the face and suffered perm damage

Or the people who buy a hatchling snake or lizard for £10 and dont think a 45 minimum vet bill is worth it when the animal gets sick.

all very sad and for every 10 good reptile onwers there are two which are not

I only put the notice on as i have very limited space and I do this when we free up a viv 99.9% of the time we are very full.

I do this to breech the gap as most of my lot needs ongoing medical attention.
take care p xx

I think it's very sad other people have jumped on me for this please read my prev mail

I don't do this to get free stuff etc that amazed me as i already get trade etc.

I just thought it might help someone who has a sick or disabled reptile and were at their wits end.

She rescues reptile that are usually severely disabled to the extent of not being suitable for new homes. If i remember rightly, didnt u take little chuckie, beckys disabled beardie that died a month or two back?

Most disabled reptiles are from neglectful omes in the first place and offering to take them off peoples hands saves them from getting dumped outside the rspca to be put down.

It is a little bit strange if u keep everythnig but if ur only rehoming severe cases i think its understandable that u dont want to rehome them to other people. at least u can provide the medicines they need and a suitable home.

Hi Blazy,

Yes i did take on little chucky from becky. sadly we lost chucky but to give an example chucky a hatchling beardie came to me after a fall on closer inspection from my vet it became apparent she had major internel problems and she was booked in for treatment which would have cost over 300 pound.

I did everything in my power.

I do have over 70 reps but not all are rescues as I do also have my own reptiles.

I do this for the sake of the animals and if people choose to differ that's fine.
